Over the past few years, the paint protection film industry has experienced rapid growth — but it has also fallen into serious disorder. One of the most common and damaging trends is the spread of ultra-low-price PPF products marketed with exaggerated claims.

At first glance, these films look attractive. Listings often advertise “premium TPU," “self-healing," and “high gloss" at prices far below normal manufacturing costs. For new buyers and non-technical customers, the low entry price seems like an opportunity. In reality, many of these products are fundamentally compromised from the start.

The most common issue with ultra-cheap PPF is rapid yellowing. To reduce cost, some manufacturers use unstable TPU blends, recycled base materials, or simplified coatings. These shortcuts may not be visible immediately after installation, but within months — especially under heat, sunlight, and daily exposure — discoloration begins. Once yellowing appears, it cannot be reversed.

Another widespread problem is poor optical clarity and weak surface performance. Low-cost films often lack coating uniformity, resulting in uneven gloss, surface haze, or streaking. Self-healing performance is inconsistent or only works at high temperatures. Minor scratches remain visible, and the film quickly loses its “new" appearance.

These issues do not only affect car owners. Installers and detailing shops suffer the most damage. When a film fails early, customers do not blame the material supplier — they blame the shop that installed it. Refunds, reinstallation costs, reputation loss, and negative reviews all follow. A cheap roll of film can easily turn into an expensive problem.

The industry problem is made worse by misleading pricing tactics. Some sellers label extremely thin or non-automotive films as “PPF," while others promote temporary protection products as long-term solutions. In these cases, the price is low because the product is not truly designed for automotive paint protection.

At CEO PPF, we take a clear position. We do not compete in the “lowest price" race, because sustainable quality cannot be produced at unrealistic costs. Our philosophy is simple: stable materials, honest performance, and long-term usability. A film should protect the vehicle — not create future problems for the installer or the owner.

In an industry full of noise, CEO PPF chooses consistency over hype and responsibility over shortcuts.
